Welcome to the 1st Edition of the East Africa Cassava Trade Fair & Festival aimed at stimulating the region’s cassava sector and make it more vibrant, attractive for foreign investors and profitable for the small stakeholder farmers. This could be achieved through public awareness campaigns about the crop’s importance in food & nutrition security, socio and economic development and showcasing its numerous value chain products for human & livestock feed, industrial products, affordable processing and packaging equipment. The platform will also be used to unveil the region’s rich cultural heritage and tourist attraction sites, alongside its business investment potential to the rest of the world.
Africa Agricultural Research Institutes and their Scientists in collaboration with their foreign counterparts have done a great job in their research duties and developed different cassava varieties including the GMO cassava that is resilient to the cassava brown streak and mosaic virus diseases.
This Cassava Trade Fair & festival-East Africa Edition is poised to blend and compliment the Africa Union’s [AU], World Scientists and Organizations working on Roots and Tuber Crops.National Governments, Developing partners and the NGO’s efforts through biannual conferences, forums, seminars, symposiums, workshops etc. all aimed at unlocking the crops potential in the none cassava consuming region of Africa and change the status quo.
