Africa is well blessed and highly favoured in many ways such that food & nutrition security should not be a big challenge to the continent. Cassava was introduced into Africa in Democratic Republic of Congo by Portuguese traders in the 16 th centuries [Okigbo, 1980] as a famine reserve crop, research has unveiled more benefits of the crop. Cassava is Africa’s NO.1 root crop, 2 nd most consumed after maize and is currently ranked the 4 th most important food crop in the world after maize, wheat and rice. It can be found in every region of Africa being utilized in different ways for different purpose. Lack of well structured consistent public awareness campaign about its numerous value chain benefits has undermined its usefulness and importance in food & nutrition security.
